We are looking for "First Year Out's" to join our teams on completing their Masters of Architecture studies. SAOTA offers extensive training, diverse project experience as well as a formal Mentorship Program for young architects to join and be eligible for future registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession.

As a FYO you will:
Develop and be responsible for certain aspects of the project design and development
With assistance, liaison with External Consultants, Contractor/Site, Architects of Record as well as with the Client
Be required to stay updated on latest architecture and design trends and technology
Need to display learning agility and initiative
Contribute, or otherwise assist as required, to provide project teams with a full Architectural service covering both presentation and contractual material
Interpret and understand the design brief
Produce all documentation relating to the design
Consistently demonstrates the ability to respond and develop skills in all levels of project technical challenges
Assist in producing all documentation relating to the design including Drawings, 3D Models, Images & all other documentation relating to the design and according to the project brief
Proactively seek feedback from seniors and act on technical advice given
Receive training on all SAOTA systems, standards and procedures
Support the production and project delivery
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CRITERIA
MArch / MTech in Architecture or equivalent
Working knowledge of REVIT
Able to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion
Able to use a variety of media and software in the development and documentation of a design project
Display high level thinking in architecture and design
Able to accurately understand and interpret instructions
Sound understanding of the production process, including applications of different file formats
The ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress
Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail
Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information
Able to remain calm and work in pressurised environments
Self-motivated and able to take responsibility
Demonstrate initiative and be pro-active towards daily tasks
Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills
Due to the nature of the position, there will be a requirement to work additional hours as necessary, this may include weekends occasionally
Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards personal growth and development in the company
Please note that this role is only open to Candidate Architects living in South Africa

Our flexible working hours policy aims to accommodate staffs home life commitments while ensuring our work commitments are reached.
