SAOTA offers an Internship Program to students studying outside of South Africa, which aims to prepare them for their careers in architecture. The student interns work closely with the Architectural teams on our projects, join site visits, and get to meet and engage with our Principals. There are a limited number of spots available.

The International Student Internship runs from 30 June to 29 August 2025

Some of the internship highlights include:

Company Induction: Gaining insights into the daily operations of our architects and support departments, including training on our work processes.

Mentorship Program Presentation: Learning about our in-house Mentorship Program, designed to guide and support First Year Out architects in achieving SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Professional) registration.

• Resource Centre Orientation and Project Assignment: Exploring our Resource Centre and working with our Research team in contributing to our library through a research assignment.

• Introduction to REVIT Training: Acquiring foundational skills in using REVIT for architectural design.

• BIM Training and VR Sessions: Diving into Building Information Modeling (BIM) through training sessions and virtual reality experiences.

• CSR Program and Visit: Visiting the 9Miles team, a non-profit organization we sponsor, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

• Engaging in virtual meetings like RAD sessions, Design Friday, and BLINK, where various teams share project progress and receive constructive feedback.

• Site Visits: Visiting SAOTA projects (completed or in construction stages)

• Project Work Experience: Assisting the team in ongoing projects, to apply and enhance your skills in real-world scenarios.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Final year undergraduate Architectural Student

• Working knowledge of Revit advantageous

• Demonstrate initiative and be proactive towards daily tasks

• Creative thinking

• Valid South African Visa (to be obtained by the student)

• Travel and living costs are to be covered by the student or their academic institution
